This is quite true. Unless they are also completely invincible ( which they often are not because that would be too obvious ), they tend to suck even with cheats.

Without Phantom Abyss Gameplay the gimmick, game gets repetitive and boring really quick, it feels like you're incentivized not to play now but later instead to see other phantoms in the same temples as you are.

Unfortunately, right now, ahead of its official release on January 25, more refining is needed until Phantom Abyss can join the ranks of the best roguelike games. This game has more than a few issues that need resolving, all of which make an already complicated game more frustrating. 

Phantom Abyss also taps into some roguelike elements with its blessing system, which offers you random power-ups for the run’s duration in exchange for collected treasure. Treasure is found in chests hidden throughout each temple, redeemable at statues between floors that offer one of two presented blessings, adding other strategic decisions to the action.
